Just trying to give a work around for the time being. I know patches are needed, but keeping them as small as possible will lure more players than turning away those that can afford the game, but can't afford the bandwidth to keep the game current. Maybe they will get the huge dl's under control soon. I played UO long ago when it first came out, and not a lot of games now seem as much fun as that one was, so I just had to try this as I saw Richard Garriott was developing it. Trading files seems to work for either client with only a few different files, so for now thats all I can do is to choose whichever client has the lowest dl, or just quit the game. Speed is not the prob, but buying bandwidth is expensive here. wow the devs think we own the ISP's or something ? p I did dl the game with the launcher but just always prefer to use Steam, as I usually play all my games through that.Īnother 2 gig dl today on steam. Or 300 megs on the patcher and 1.5 gigs or more on Steam. You can find the Launcher on the Shroud of the Avatar website, under "Account" and then Game Access on the right.įor reference, there will probably be at least one patch that's 3 megs on the patcher, and 300 megs or more on Steam. Official stores only STEAM GLOBAL Early Access Standard Fees Loading offers. It sucks because you already downloaded with Steam, but the Steam patches are always huge in comparison to the Launcher. Since you have limited bandwidth, I highly recommend using the Launcher, at least during this week. We then usually have a half dozen patches over the next week, then none until the end of the next month. Sounds like you started right before the update, which happens on the last Thursday every month.
